Dr. Shyam Dang is a board-certified gastroenterologist with over 20 years
of medical experience, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide
range of digestive and liver disorders. He is dedicated to providing compassionate,
evidence-based care and believes in empowering patients through education and
shared decision-making.

Dr. Dang earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi, India—
one of the world’s leading medical institutions. He completed his
Internal Medicine residency, Chief Residency, and Gastroenterology &
Hepatology fellowship
at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS)
in Little Rock, where he later served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine
in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

Before joining Salem Gastroenterology Consultants, Dr. Dang practiced at
OHSU Hillsboro Medical Center, PeaceHealth Longview Medical Center,
and Saline Memorial Hospital in Arkansas. He is board-certified in
Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and Hepatology by the
American Board of Internal Medicine, with active medical licenses in
Oregon, Washington, and Arkansas.

An accomplished researcher and author, Dr. Dang has published extensively in
peer-reviewed journals such as Endoscopy, Digestive Endoscopy,
and the World Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. His research has
focused on advanced endoscopic techniques, hepatobiliary disorders, and
gastrointestinal oncology. He has also presented multiple award-winning abstracts
at national conferences, including the American College of Gastroenterology,
earning distinctions such as the ACG Presidential Poster Award and the
ACG/Olympus Award.

Dr. Dang’s clinical expertise includes
advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, ERCP, EUS,
management of inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, and
colorectal cancer prevention. He brings a comprehensive, individualized
approach to every patient’s care—whether through lifestyle and dietary counseling,
medical therapy, or advanced procedures.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Dang enjoys hiking, traveling, and exploring new cultures.
He is also an avid sports fan and loves spending time with his family, especially
watching games with his children.
