Dr. Nizar H. Senussi, MD is a gastroenterologist with advanced training and expertise spanning a wide spectrum of digestive diseases, including general gastroenterology, hepatology, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and clinical nutrition. He is known for his thoughtful, evidence-based, and patient-centered approach to care, emphasizing clear communication and individualized treatment strategies.

Dr. Senussi earned his medical degree from the University of Tripoli School of Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Saint Joseph Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. He subsequently pursued advanced subspecialty training, including a Clinical Nutrition Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, followed by an Advanced/Transplant Hepatology Fellowship at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. He completed his Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Prior to joining Salem Gastroenterology Consultants, Dr. Senussi practiced in Seattle, Washington, where he provided comprehensive gastroenterology and hepatology care. His clinical philosophy centers on digestive wellness through compassion, prevention, and medical excellence, with a strong focus on long-term patient relationships and evidence-based care.

Dr. Senussi is deeply committed to colorectal cancer prevention and community health outreach. He is a two-time recipient of the American College of Gastroenterology’s prestigious SCOPY Award, recognizing leadership and excellence in colorectal cancer prevention initiatives and public health education.

His research has been published in leading peer-reviewed medical journals, and he has presented multiple scientific abstracts at national conferences. He remains actively involved in national committee work with professional organizations within the field of Gastroenterology.

Dr. Senussi is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons (NBPAS). He is fluent in both English and Arabic.
